Hallo, Ihr Lieben,
Again our sailing holiday was a journey into a complete different life with its own rhythm, so much joy and wonderful experiences so that you may imagine how hard it is now to dive in our daily life again. This daily life that eats up so much life-time with all its performance of one's duty which make us sinking into the pillows exhausted at night.
It therefore was a great gift to relax in the holidays, to make the head free and to do only those things that we really wanted to. No dates ... no duties! We're so thankful that we could escape this daily routine for a whole month.
This year we sailed along the german coast of the baltic sea (from the isle of Usedom to the Isle of Fehmarn and retour) and had great weather, only three days with thunderstorms or showers. So we could be really lucky with that especially in fact of the weather in other regions of germany in July, right? On the other hand we had much wind, there was hardly a day under 5 beaufort, frequently there were strong wind warnings during the days, sometimes we had to stay one more day in a safe harbour. But those harbour days were great because we had time to go swimming, to read, to go shopping, to be just lazy or to knit. I didn't knit much in these holidays but that's another story I'll tell in the next post.
In spite of those days with strong winds we had a lot of wonderful sailing days with full speed under sail which were so impressive that they are still alive in our dreams. It always is a great experience each time our old lady lies along in the wind and glides over the sea being lifted by the waves in this moment and surfs down into the wave hollow in the next moment.
You don't have much speed with a sailing boat but nevertheless you feel a great speed - it is always fascinating moving on only with the power of the wind in the sails. And the noise is so impressive: the wind blows into the sails and makes them creak sometimes, the water gurgles along the hull of the ship and seegulls scream - it is a unique experience of mother nature. In those moments deep inside of you you feel how tiny you are on this wide ocean - especially when the coast you left cannot be seen any more and the destination you like to reach isn't in sight on the horizon yet. This wonderful feeling of freedom was with us all the time in these holidays and is still deep in us now.
Eure Susanne
Perhaps you feel that I really did not arrive in this world until now - and probably that's good so. Finally we have weekend now and duties have a break...
I wish all of you much free time, so long
Your's Susanne
