Frühling lässt sein blaues Band ... / The blue ribbon of spring ...

Wenn das keine Frühlingsfarben sind? 

In den letzten Wochen habe ich mich mit der Noro Silk Garden Sock auf den Frühling vorbereitet und mir diese Zipfeljacke gestrickt. Da ich keine Anleitung sondern nur eine gekaufte Jacke mit ähnlichem Schnitt hatte, musste ich erstmal entwerfen, zeichnen, rechnen und teilweise wieder aufribbeln ... aber zum guten Schluss ist dieses Jäckchen entstanden, das ich heute erstmalig ausgeführt habe, gerade richtig bei diesem schönen Wetter.

I prepared myself for spring time knitting this cardi with Noro Silk Garden Sock in the last weeks. There was no pattern for this. I only had another cardi with a similar shape that I purchased last year. So I had to design something new, did a lot of maths and knitted some pieces several times. But in the end there is this little cardi that I wore today for the first time.

Cables and Ruffles inspired by the Waves of the Ocean

 

Ocean Waves

Irgendwie erinnert mich das Muster an die Wellen des Meeres.

The pattern reminds me of the waves of the ocean.

Garn / Yarn: 

450g Lana Grossa Softhair

kid mohair, virgin wool, polyamide

120m/50g

Nadeln / Needles:

7mm

Ende 2006 hatte ich diesen Pulli hier (click) gestrickt. Leider war er nach einer Wäsche nicht mehr annähernd so schön wie direkt nach der Fertigstellung. Das Muster hatte zwischen den Zöpfen riesige Löcher ausgebildet und das Mohair war überhaupt nicht mehr flauschig. Damals war ich ganz schön traurig.

Vor ein paar Wochen fiel mir der Pulli wieder in die Hände, fast zeitgleich fand ich in einem Wolladen in Cottbus (Hanf und Wolle) ein Mohairgarn in diesem schönen Blau, das von der Stärke und vom Preis in Ordnung war, um das Modell ein zweites Mal zu stricken. Das Muster wollte ich - wegen der Löcher - auf keinen Fall nochmal stricken und suchte deshalb nach etwas anderem. In irgendeinem alten Gedifra-Heftchen fand ich schließlich das richtige Muster. Alles musste neu berechnet werden und dann ging es ran an die Nadeln. In nur zwei Wochen waren alle Teile fertig (allein die Ärmel hab ich im Zug von und nach München gestrickt) und nun wird es wieder kalt, so dass ich den Pulli wohl noch ein paar Tage anziehen kann, bevor der Frühling wirklich kommt. Auf jeden Fall werde ich noch einen losen Rollkragen dazu stricken, den ich dann bei Bedarf über den Kopf ziehen kann.

Im Grunde ist so ein ganz neues Modell entstanden, lediglich die Idee der Rüschen, die sich durch die darüber liegenden Verzopfungen ergeben, ist geblieben. Schön warm ist er und schmeichelt der Figur, findet Ihr nicht?  ;-))

At the end of the year 2006 I finished this sweater (click). Unfortunately after washing the sweater wasn't nearly as pretty as before. Big holes came out between the cables and the mohair lay flat. At that time I was very disappointed.

A few weeks ago I "refound" the sweater in my wardrobe, round about that time I saw a mohair blend in this beautiful blue, yarn weight and price were right for a second try. I didn't want to knit the original pattern again (because of the holes between the cables), so I had to find another pattern that would fit to my project. I found it in an old Gedifra magazine but had to do a lot of maths for the gauge was different to the original. But then the sweater was finished in only two weeks - I knitted the sleeves on the train to and from Munich. And now winter comes back, it's cold outside so I may wear this sweater several times until spring is really coming. I'm planning to knit a loose turtleneck out of the same yarn in order to pull it over my head from time to time.

So a new design is born, only the idea of ruffles caused by the cables above is a part of the original. The sweater is warm and cosy and it flatters the figure, doesn't it? ;-))

Ach ja, München:

Ich habe dort tatsächlich zwei Tage Frühling erlebt, wolkenlosen Himmel und 12°C plus wohlgemerkt!!

Einige Wolläden habe ich besucht, darunter "Die Wolle", den "Wollkorb", "Wolle Rödel" und die Wollabteilung bei Karstadt am Hauptbahnhof - die "Strickeria" habe ich nicht mehr geschafft, hatte schließlich auch noch dienstliche Verpflichtungen. Zu guter Letzt ich war bei Katharina Ritter in Ihrem Laden namens "lanaiolo" in der Grillparzerstraße. Wir haben nett geplauscht, ich hab ihr Buch "Märchenhaftes Stricken" gekauft und auch ein wenig Wolle. Es war ein netter Ausflug nach München - aber trotzdem freue ich mich schon wieder auf Düsseldorf, wo ich hoffentlich bald wieder dienstlich zu tun habe!!!

By the way, Munich:

I had two spring days there, not a cloud at the sky and 12°C plus!!

I visited a few yarn shops there, e.g. "Die Wolle", "Wollkorb", "Wolle Rödel" and the yarn department of Karstadt at the main station - I hadn't enough time to visit "Strickeria" - had some official meetings in Munich. But at least I visited Katharina Ritter in her shop named "lanaiolo" in the Grillparzerstraße. It was nice to met her, we talked about yarn (what else?), I purchased her book "Märchenhaftes Stricken" and some yarn there. It was a nice trip to Munich - but I look forward to a hopefully soon trip to Düsseldorf!!!

Noch'n Eintrag in ROT / Another Post in RED

Zunächst einmal ganz ganz lieben Dank für Eure vielen lobenden Kommentare zu meiner Tasche, die nicht filzen wollte. Ich bin ganz überwältigt von Eurer Resonanz auf ein Projekt, das das Ergebnis eines Missgeschicks wurde. Auch auf Ravelry hat meine Tasche so viele Herzchen bekommen - es ist kaum zu glauben. Wahrscheinlich wird irgendein Designer diese Art Taschen irgendwann in Serie produzieren ...

First of all I want to say thanks to you for your comments to my bag that won't felt. I hadn't expect such an overwhelming reaction to a project that began with a mishap. On ravelry the bag got so many little hearts as well - I cannot believe it. Probably some designer will produce that sort of bag sometime in series ...

Heute möchte ich meinen neuen Halswärmer mit passender Mütze vorstellen - natürlich wieder in meiner Lieblingsfarbe ROT - was sonst?

Beide Teile also aus dem selben Garn gestrickt wie meine Drops-Jacke und super kuschelig warm. In den letzten Tagen hat der Schnee zwar ein bißchen getaut aber schon heute schneite es wieder heftig bei uns, so dass ich annehme, dass ich Mütze und Halswärmer in den nächsten Tagen noch ganz gut gebrauchen kann. Die Mütze ist ein Phänomen: Sie steht wirklich jedem, der sie aufsetzt. Und gestrickt ist sie an einem Abend.

Both projects are made of the same yarn which I used for my Drops jacket and they are cosy and warm. The snow melted a bit in the last days but today there were much snow again so I think I 'll need these two in the next days. By the way, this beret is a little phenomenon: It fits to everybody who puts it on. And it is a very quick knit.

Was ist als nächtes auf meinen Nadeln? Jedenfalls nichts ROTES ;-))

Übrigens: In der kommenden Woche bin ich ein paar Tage dienstlich in München. Hat jemand einen guten Tipp für einen Wollladen dort?

Von der Tasche, die sich nicht filzen lassen wollte... / About the bag that won't felt ...

Stricktasche mit Zöpfen / Braided Cable Tote

Größe / Measurements:
L, 45cm x 12cm x 30cm 

Garn / Yarn: 
300g Gedifra Living, 100% pure wool, 80m/50g

Nadeln / Needles:
6mm

Diese Tasche hat mich in den letzten Tagen ganz schön beschäftigt. Ich hatte Euch ja berichtet, dass ich eine Tasche stricken und filzen wollte und hatte schon so eine Ahnung, dass irgendwas nicht ganz so fadengrade laufen würde ...

Obwohl aus 100% Schurwolle (allerdings mit Superwash-Ausrüstung, was ich erst viel später merkte) verweigerte das fertig gestrickte Stück den Filzprozess sowohl bei 40°C, bei 60°C und auch bei 95°C  (!!!) - Ihr mögt es mir vielleicht nicht glauben, aber das ist die Wahrheit, ich schwöre! Das Gestrick blieb unverändert. Rein in den Trockner und während dessen überlegt, was ich nun mit dem eigentlich schönen Strickstück anfangen sollte. Ich wollte die Tasche ja auch füttern, hatte aber gehofft, dass sie nach dem Filzen steif genug sein würde, um alleine zu stehen. Daraus wurde ja nun nix! 

This bag kept me busy in the last days. I told you that I wanted to knit and felt a bag and I had such an idea that something will go wrong with that project ...

Although 100% pure wool (but with a superwash treatment which I became aware of much later) the tote won't felt in my washing machine at 40°C, 60°C and in the end 95°C (!!!) - you won't believe me but I swear it's true! The knitting item hadn't change. While the bag dried in the tumbler I wondered what I should do with it. I wanted to line the bag and had hoped that it would be stiff enough to stand by it's own. But this wish won't come true!

Dann kam mir die Idee: Filzplatten aus dem Bastelladen!! 

Also Filzplatten in passender Farbe gekauft (4 Stück à 45cm x 30cm), Seitenteile, Innentasche und Griffe zugeschnitten ...

Finally there was the idea: Felted cloth for lining!!

So I purchased some of these in a matching color (4 pieces à 45cm x 30cm), cut sides and handles ...

... mit meiner alten Nähmaschine zusammengenäht ...

... sew them together with my old sewing machine ...

... und als Futter in die Stricktasche von Hand eingenäht ...

... and sew in the lining by hand into the knitted bag ...

... einzig die Zopfgriffe habe ich mit Heißkleber auf die Filzgriffe aufgeklebt, das ging nicht zu nähen ...

... only the cable handles were attached to the felted handles with hot glue ...

Mit dem Ergebnis bin ich mehr als zufrieden, weil die Tasche richtig toll standfest ist und ich nun ein hübsches Behältnis für meine Strickprojekte habe. Für ein ursprünglich missglücktes Vorhaben doch gar nicht so schlecht, oder?

I am very satisfied with the outcome. The bag now stands by itself and I have a perfect bag for my knitting projects. Not so bad for an originally misshappened project, isn't it?

Wahrscheinlich werdet Ihr jetzt fragen: "Was? schon wieder was fertig??"  

Okay, aber mit so dicken Nadeln geht das echt ganz fix - ich habe nur 8 Abende gebraucht, wollte die Jacke unbedingt noch fertig bekommen, bevor es (vermeintlich) milder wird und sie damit zu warm. Aber jetzt kommt sie gerade recht, wenn hier wieder die Kälte langsam von Osten herankriecht.

Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis, die Jacke trägt sich sehr angenehm durch die A-Linie, das Garn ist toll (war im Wolland im Angebot), die Farbe sowieso- so ein schönes ROT steht mir immer wieder gut, da kann ich gar nichts falsch machen. Der Kragen ist in der Anleitung irgendwie merkwürdig beschrieben. ich habe einfach mit verkürzten Reihen gearbeitet und finde das Ergebnis gut, ein bißchen halsfern, so wie ich es haben wollte. Die tollen Knöpfe hatte ich noch in meinem Knopfkästchen, es waren genau drei und mein Liebster hatte die Idee, sie schräg anzunähen - cool, oder? Tja, manchmal ist bei uns auch ein Gemeinschaftswerk ;-))

Probably you might ask now: "What? Another project already done?"

Ok, but it was a very quick knit with these big needles - I only needed 8 evenings, wanted to finish this jacket just before the winter goes. But now, as the cold winds come from the east, I am happy to have it in my wardrobe.

I am very satisfied with this garment, pleasant to wear with this light A-line, the yarn is fine (was a sale at Wolland) and the color of course too - such a shade of RED is mine, I cannot go wrong with it. The collar is a bit tricky written in the pattern. In the end I managed to do it with short rows and I like the result, not a close fit to the neck, that's what I wanted. These faishy buttons are of my button stash, I had exactly these three of them and my darling had the idea to sew them on with an angle - isn't that cool? Well, sometimes we make the projects together ;-))

Zur Zeit arbeite ich gerade an meinem ersten Filzobjekt, soll 'ne Tasche werden, bin aber nicht sicher, ob sich die Wolle wirklich filzen lassen wird ... ich werde berichten ...

Aber jetzt ist erstmal das neue ROWAN-Magazin dran, es kam heute mit der Post, hier schon mal ein kleiner Eindruck von meinen Favoriten.
